Home remedies – some work and some don’t, and this is one we have inherited from our grannies. It is an old belief that Vaseline can help grow longer and stronger eyelashes. Everyone is different, and the result may vary from one person to another. Longer lashes or not, one conclusion we can draw from this myth is that Vaseline is an excellent moisturizer. It is a great conditioner that will work wonders on dry and brittle eyelashes. Vaseline will also help decreasing your eyelashes falling off. While it’s normal that eyelashes fall off (they follow a specific cycle) applying Vaseline may help them last longer.
Vaseline is cheap and easily available. A small amount is enough to serve the purpose and you can apply it to your eyelashes overnight, using a Q-tip or an eyelash brush. Brush/roll the Q-tip under your lashes, upwards. When you wake up in the morning, wash of the Vaseline. Excessive Vaseline may weigh down the eyelashes, causing irritation in the eyes. If you get Vaseline in your eyes your vision may become blurry, so make sure to wash it out fast.
Another home remedy for longer lashes is to apply a thin coat of olive oil or castor oil to your lashes before you go to bed at night. Dip a clean, eyelash brush in the oil and gently brush your eyelashes from the base to the tip. Brush the lashes several times, and then lightly pat them with a tissue or cloth to remove excess oil. Leave the oil on overnight and wash it off in morning.
