It’s less than a week until Christmas eve and as this time of the year can be very demanding it’s not always easy to get everything you need before the holidays begins. If you have been putting off your Christmas shopping because of work, school or if you just don’t like the hectic Christmas shopping, this post if made for you. I’ve put together a list of last minute gift ideas for you inspiration.

♥ App Store Gift Card: Most people have at least one Apple product today. I would use this gift card to buy everything from a new addictive game to an interesting book or magazine.

Update: Christmas holidays

by Hanne on December 17, 2013

Hey babes! I’m alive, I know it’s been ages since I last updated the blog. I’ve had some super busy months with work and studies and I just haven’t had time. I came back to Norway a bit more than a week ago, I had two exams last week and now it’s finally Christmas holidays. It’s the last year of my bachelor and with work, traveling and my bachelor assignment my days are always busy.

I promise I will try to posts some new posts now and then, even though it won’t go back to daily posts like it used to be. I do post pictures on Instagram quite regularly so if you are interested you can follow me there – @byhanne is my username.

I wanted to ask you guys what kind of posts you want me to post in the future? I have got quite a lot of questions about my hair care routine and diet/exercise so I thought I would make some posts about that. Please feel free to come with suggestions! :)

Hope you are having a wonderful (and not too hectic) pre-Christmas time! I managed to finish with all my Christmas presents early this year so now I can relax and enjoy with friends and family.

NCLA – I’m with the band

by Hanne on August 21, 2013

I’m with the band is a beautiful shimmery coral creme color - definitely the shade of the season. I’ve been using it a lot this summer and I’m sure I’ll continue using of the next months. The formula was thick on this one and one coat was perfect.

This was a relatively new brand to me and what caught my interest was the fact that the formula is free of any Formaldehyde, DBP, Toluene or Camphor. It is also never tested on animals.

Below is ncLA’s pr image where you see that the color is more coral/orange than it looks in my picture.

For those of you who asked, this is the nail polish I was wearing on the picture in the last post. It is quite pricey at €16.95 but I also think would be willing to pay more for a nail polish free of the major toxins as this has become more important to me lately.

A while ago I was searching for a good moisturizer with SPF higher than 15 and without these harmful ingredients. A very sweet reader told me about the Kimberly Sayer Ultra Light Facial Moisturizer SPF 30 and I had to give it a try. This non-toxic, natural sunscreen is derived from minerals non-nano Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide and is supposed to offer complete protection from the sun without irritating even the most sensitive skin

The product comes in a HUGE pump bottle that will last me forever. It’s a light moisturizer that absorbes easily and doesn’t feel greasy on my skin. It does makes my skin look brighter/a bit more pale but not the typical white cast that so many other sunscreens give you. It doesn’t make my skin shiny which makes it perfect for everyday use. It also works very well with my skin, I haven’t had any breakouts in the month that I have been using it. In fact, I think my skin looks better since I started using it. I really enjoy the fresh scent, it’s a quite strong citrusy scent although not unpleasant and it doesn’t last too long.

The price of €32,95 is really not bad given the quality of the organic ingredients and the fact that you get 120 ml (twice as much product as most other moisturizers). I would highly recommend it and I absolutely love that it’s so lightweight compared to most other facial sunscreens I’ve tried! Get it here. :)

Hand Luggage: In-Flight Beauty Essentials

by Hanne on August 1, 2013

Hello beauties! Hope you are having a lovely summer so far! I’ve been traveling a lot lately, and as summer is a time when most of us travel a lot I thought I’d publish a post I wrote last last summer. When I travel I always make sure to bring my in-flight beauty essentials, especially on long haul flights. Here is what I usually keep in my hand luggage onboard.

As you can only bring beauty products less than 100 ml and all of them fitting inside a plastic bag you have to downsize your beauty essentials. Samples and travel sizes will make you able to bring more products.

❤ One of my must-have in-flight beauty essentials is a facial spritzer and one of my favorites is the Eau de Beaute from Caudalie. I love the cool “wake me up” feeling it gives as well as it is hydrating my skin.

❤ The Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream is also great to keep with me onboard as it’s a multi purpose product – I use it on my lips, cuticles and dry patches. Lately I have discovered a good natural alternative, the Weleda Skin Food cream for rough, dry skin.

❤ Traveling can be stressful so to stay fresh I always bring a deodorant with me. A small sample of my favorite perfume, Chanel Mademoiselle, is always is my hand luggage as well. I don’t spritz on board as it might bother other passengers but I always put on a little bit right before leaving the plane.

❤ A moisturizing hand cream is a must-have in onboard as the air is super dry, I love the Ecorganic Hand Cream from Estelle & Thild.

❤ On long haul flights I always remove my makeup after take-off and the mini Bioderma Crealine H2O is perfect to keep in my hand luggage.

❤ The Lierac Diopti Calm Anti-Fatigue Balm and Mask Eye Cream is cooling, soothing, calming, it contains a high percentage of refreshing floral waters and can be used to treat sensitive or irritable eyelids.

❤ A travel sized tooth paste helps me feeling fresh at any time and it’s always with me when I’m traveling.

I usually bring a moisturizer or a moisturizing mask as well, but only on long haul flights. A facial spritzer is enough for shorter flights.

What about you guys? What are your in-flight beauty essentials? :)

Made my day

I saw this inspiring video just a few days ago and not only did it make my day but it touched me as well. It really reminds you not to take life for granted and live your life to the fullest.

Such a beautiful story, I wish more people were like this! Hope you will enjoy as much as I did. :)

Morning Skincare Routine – the update

by Hanne on July 2, 2013

Hi beauties. Some of you have suggested that I did an update post on my skincare routine as it probably has changed a bit over the last months. I still use a lot of my beloved staples but also have some new additions to my beauty collection. I’ve decided to start with presenting the skincare products I usually use in the morning.

So I’ll start of by saying that I have sensitive skin that tends to get a bit dry in winter and dehydrated in summer. To maintain a good skin care routine it is important to find good products that works for your skin type.

First thing, I clean my face and neck with the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish which is a gentlecreamy cleanser that works great for my skin type. I’ve been using this cleanser for about 2 years now and I absolutely love it. I apply it directly to dry skin, leave it on for about a minute, then rinse it off with lukewarm water (never too hot or too cold). Sometimes I remove my cleanser with a muslin cloth for a gentle exfoliating effect. Another product I also love is the Konjac Sponge, which I often use in the mornings as well, it is supposed to stimulates blood flow and activate skin renewal (you can read my full review here.) After cleansing I spritz on some of my new amazing toner from Pai Skincare. I use the Lotus & Orange Blossom toner which is supposed to soothe, tone and hydrate. It is also alcohol-free which I love. The reason why I never used toners before was because most of them are full of alcohol.

After toning my skin feels fresh and clean and I apply my regular moisturizer, right now I’m obsessed with the Clarins HydraQuench Cream which is perfect for summer and my skin type, it’s light but super hydrating. I also use the Chamomile & Roseship Sensitive Skin Cream from Pai Skincare which I’ve just recently discovered, so far I’m very impressed. On sunny days I’ll use a moisturizer with spf or a sunscreen. Right now I’m looking for a new one as I’ve just ran out of the ones I had. I want to find a good one (without these ingredients) so please let me know if you have any suggestions. I also apply a hydrating and firming eye cream and right now I’m using the Ole Henriksen Total Truth Eye Cream spf15. When applying eye cream I use my ring finger because it’s the weakest, and too much pressure causes more wrinkles.

So there you have it, my morning skincare routine! A follow-up post on my evening routine will come soon. If you have any questions, please feel free to comment below! :)
